I have been enjoying listening online to the discussion with Oprah and Eckhardt Tolle about being in the Now moment and understanding the nature of the mind of the ego. Oprah has put her teleclasses on Youtube so people can watch them in full. Eckhardt Tolle’s book ‘The Power of Now’ described beautifully the way how to still the mind and begin to understand ego consciousness. His second book goes further on this and explains very well the nature of the ego. I have not read his second book, ‘A New Earth’, the only info I have is from watching the Youtube teleclasses about it.
Once we begin to understand the ego we can free ourselves up to be still and present. This is important when reducing stress in our lives and to be able to receive those messages from spirit – tap into our own spiritual intuition.
The next step in healing the ego is to actually transform the underlying emotional charges that are still held in our consciousness. Every painful incident has an emotional charge to correspond with it. For many of us we have deep emotional wounds in our psyche/consciousness which are there, even if we do not realise it today. These underlying emotional wounds cloud and distort our own lens of the world – they shape our current perceptions of reality – what is good, bad, right or wrong. Basically, if any person or event, or trait, or action or inaction that gives us emotional charge is telling us about ourselves. (Who presses our buttons?)
Once we learn if there is any part of us that needs to grow to new awareness our emotional charge will be reduced. However, it is important to note that emotional charge is different to passion – soul passion. Soul passion is when we become passionate about events or people in our lives. If we feel resentment, anger, jealously, pride, better than or less than then this is our ego talking and this is different to our soul’s passion and drive. True passion can be a very powerful force in our lives – passion from spirit/soul is what gives us direction and purpose in life.
There are very few people who have pure consciousness – or clear perception - perception without emotional charges. After all we are human and we came here to experience life with an emotional body. We came here to feel the full range of emotions from deep despair and grief to joy and playfulness. There is no doubt that our world of extreme love and extreme darkness encompasses the full range of emotional experience. Eckhardt talks about the pain body in people and how this shapes our world. One way to deal with the pain body is to avoid it or not let it ‘rear its head’ and ‘control us’. However, in order to truly heal consciousness we need to heal our pain body and this is a deep and explorative process.
The ‘masculine road’ to enlightenment is very much about transcending the mind and the limitations of mind. There is much written about transcending the mind or stilling the mind, but there is very little written about The Feminine path to enlightenment – which is to feel, understand and transform all emotional charges that exist in the psyche. I discuss the healing of emotional charges in depth in both my books. Firstly it is natural to have emotional charges, it is not good or bad, it simply just is. To avoid emotions is often to deny that we have them and I strongly suggest that we should never deny our emotions. Our emotions are all valid and important as they are telling us about a part of us that needs attending to. Every strong emotional charge is the expression of a part of us – a persona – which still exists in our psyche. The little girl or boy who was yelled at, raped or abused as a child is still with us. That inner child, or child aspect is still a real feeling Being in our consciousness. These aspects of us never die they remain in form in the way they were when we were that age. What we do when we heal the psyche is to bring each of these personas into our heart and love them. When we do this we can learn how to speak to them to help them transform their beliefs about the situation they experienced and guide them to the love with new awareness.
Love is in our own hearts. However, the gateway to divine love has been closed in most of us for most of our adult lives. Due to the experience of pain most of us have layers of emotional pain around the heart and we have shut the door to divine love. This is a natural response to protect the heart. So all these younger aspects of us (these personas) are locked out from feeling divine love and are still emotionally charged. The door to the heart is shut and they all can’t get in until we understand consciousness, understand the Law of Polarity and heal each one, one by one, and only then can we open our heart and let them feel divine love. The Heart is the source of Divine Love.
Divine Love is not outside of our Self it is within.
If we feel deficient in something, or the need to fill a void within, or lonely, or angry, or resentful or sad it is because we are feeling one of these aspects of our self who are not connected with divine love – they are not Whole – or part of the Whole – which is our True Soul Self. Our True Self is Divine Love and when we connect with our True Self – our Eternal Soul Self, we feel joy, happiness and love. Playfulness is also a major part of how we feel when we connect with our own divine True Self.
How do we open the heart and let all these wounded aspects of self back in?
In my book ‘An Olympian’s Guide to Weight Loss’ I discuss some processes on how to do this in detail. The book is suitable for anyone wanting to heal an aspect of their own consciousness. The book is not just about weight loss.
So to transform consciousness we need to heal the emotional charges. The masculine road to enlightenment forgets this vital step in the process to ascend – enlighten - consciousness. That is because over the past 4,000 years men have not had the road maps themselves on how to do this. There have been many road maps that talk about stilling the mind or meditation, but very few about healing the emotional charges and all the wounded personas in a person’s psyche. When I say ‘wounded’ it does not necessarily mean a very damaged/pained aspect of self, it could also mean an aspect of self who has experienced a so called ‘minor incident’ but in actuality the reality experience for the child, for example, can be huge. Children take things literally and are very open, so when they experience betrayal, abandonment, and abuse (physical and or verbal) they are greatly affected. There are many wounded adults walking around and very few spiritual adults who truly ‘know’ themselves. So the men, by enlarge, have not had the ‘how to road map’ on how to heal emotions. Women, because they have more feminine energy and are more connected with their emotional truth (their feelings) find it easier to transform emotional pain. Finding the right road map?
Life will present to us books, teachers, conversations, people, friends, partners, lovers, practitioners and events which will wake us up to those aspects of self that need attending to. If we still over eat or smoke cigarettes, or drink too much alcohol we need to ask ourselves why are we doing it? Which part of us needs nurturing, love, connection, the filling of a void………which part of us do we need to bring Home to the love – into our own Heart.
Which part of us needs to be acknowledged and validated?
So if you ignore emotions the problems in our lives will never go away. Every emotion is valid and is telling us about ourselves. In both books I share a huge chapter on emotions and what they are telling us about our self. We are not here to kill our ego. We are here to love our self and all parts of our own consciousness. The ego is the lower mind – the part of us that is the survival mechanism whilst here in physical form. We need to become aware of the ego’s games and along the way transcend our awareness beyond the games to pure awareness of Self and Others. We all have an ego and the ego is not a bad thing. We are here to truly learn to love ThySelf and all of ThySelf, warts and all!
As we begin to understand the ego’s games and live free from resentment, anger, blame, bitterness, jealousy, pride, arrogance and selfishness we can connect with our True Character. We are not here to kill our true personality. We all have deep desires, ambitions, visions and things we want to achieve – they are all valid and they stem from our Soul’s desire to express itself whilst here in physical form.
Our True Character is that of our eternal Soul Self. When we connect with our inner gifts and magic these stem from our Soul Self. We all have a Soul character, or personality, and all have an individual ‘I’ aspect. If we transcend our own consciousness as an ‘I Am’ Individual Self (The Soul) then we merge with All There Is and become a pure observer.
From a place of pure observation we begin to understand the Spiritual Truth that we are all One. All is connected to All. The One Spirit flows through all living and non-living things. So from different places of observation we gain different perspectives on life. But we are all individual eternal Beings of Light having a human physical experience.
