Reaching our full potential and walking our true path.
In order to succeed in life any 'self help' guru will tell us to 'do what you love and love what you do', apply the 'Secret' and bingo you 'create a life of your dreams'.
Pretty simple isn't it? Just do it, as the Nike add says.
But why do some of us find it so hard to not only relate to this statement ('do what you love and love what you do') but actually act on it?
Why do some people seem to 'get it easy' whilst others seem to fail over and over again?
Why do some of us attract in what we 'do not want' even when we are 'positive and happy people'?
If we apply the 'secrets' outlined in the movie the 'Secret' is it really that simple?
The Law of Attraction states that what we think, feel and believe is what we create into our experience (or our reality). This seems pretty simple, all we have to do is change our thinking and feeling and 'bingo' we can have it all. We can 'put our order into the universe' and attract into our life what we want. Mmmmmmmmmm...
However, the movie really is only an introduction to the Law of Attraction and the teachings of the ancient Mystery Schools of Egypt and the ancient knowledge that was kept safe by those 'that knew the truth'. And those that knew the truth were the Shamans, the mystics, the sages, the religious teachers, those in 'power' and the Indigenous elders or 'wise ones'. As Rhonda Byrne says in the movie 'why does not everyone know this truth - the Law of Attraction? Why has it been kept hidden from the masses for so long?'
Very good questions. It was kept hidden from the masses for several reasons.
Firstly the knowledge was kept hidden because the mass consciousness of the majority of people on the planet was too low for them to properly understand the context and truth of all the teachings.
And - 'You do not throw pearls at swine'.
This statement basically means that you do not share anything with a person who will not fully understand it, or who will take it out of context because their consciousness is too low to comprehend it. In other words you do not try and teach a child in grade 1 grade 12 mathematics because they will not understand it fully, they need to learn grade 1 to grade 11 maths before they are given grade 12 maths. And this takes time, discipline, experience and growth. It cannot be taught in one hour. In other words the teachings would have been taken out of context, misunderstood, misconstrued and misapplied if they were given to someone who is still in 'survival (ego) consciousness'. The universal laws will be applied to the material world only and mis-understood.
Secondly, those in power did not want the average person to know the truth about consciousness and reality creation because they would risk losing thier 'power over the people' because the people would 'wake up to the game' and have the chance to become self empowered.
So these were two major reasons why the teachings have been kept hidden. This included the full teachings of the Kabbalah. The full teachings of the Kabbalah (which is based on the Book of Abraham, from over 2,500 years ago) were kept hidden by the Jewish scholars from the masses because they contained the teachings too about the Law of Attraction, the Soul and the evolution of consciousness. These teachings are now being made available to the masses via some great Rabbi teachers for free around the world.
So the time is right for the teachings to be made available to the masses because the average consciousness of those people in Western Society has reached a certain level of evolution where they will be able to comprehend the teachings. However, it will take more than watching the 'Secret movie' to understand the teachings. Depending on a person's current level of evolution, for most it takes a lifetime. We never stop learning about Self. The 'basics' of the teachings will be taken by those at the lowest level of consciousness and 'bastardised' because they do not understand the original context of the teachings.
So if we are not getting what we want in our life it will be because of one or several of the following:
- We have subconscious/unconscious beliefs/emotional wounds that are sabotaging our conscious efforts to create what we want. (Deep wounds or unworthiness, guilt, betrayal etc.)
- We are not listening to what our Higher Self wants for us - our true Soul purpose and mission
- We have several 'lessons' to learn' that mean experiencing certain things (painful or pleasurable, chaos or order) throughout life that we simply cannot understand at the time we experience them. This is called 'spiritual growth'. The ego in general will not grow in consciousness without some form of chaos to stimulate the growth.
(I.e. the larger the crisis or pain the larger the growth in consciousness.)
All spiritual lessons are about love - divine love. Divine love is unconditional love. It is a vibration and a state of Beingness beyond duality. (Duality is the physical world we live in. There is 'hot and cold', 'painful emotions and good feeling emotions', 'right and wrong' (which are totally subjective) and 'good and bad' (which are totally subjective). When we are feeling anything less than gratitude and divine love we are stuck in ego consciousness. That is ok. We are all Human or 'Spiritual Beings' having a human physical experience. And it is very hard to transcend all the lower painful emotions because we have an emotional body. The only way is to heal and collapse the emotional charge for each part of us that is not able to feel gratitude and divine love. This work therefore takes a lifetime of work. It is ongoing for all of us. However, love and gratitude is our natural state of Being at our Highest level of Being.
However, the majority of humans are below this level of Beingness. This is not 'bad' it simply just is. But with more teachings, healing techniques and practices out there on offer than ever before we now have many tools available to help us heal all the wounded/dualised aspects of our ego self (lower mind) and not get pulled into lower level emotions all the time such as resentment, self-pity, jealousy, pride, bitterness etc. (In both my books I have an extensive section on how to understand and decode emotions to enhance spiritual intuition. So even if you are not specifically interested in weight loss, the book talks about healing aspects of self that apply to all of us. The sports book is more about 'optimum performance'.) The more we heal unconscious personas the more able we are to become a conscious co-creator with the universe. And this really means that the more we transcend our ego the more we can be guided by our own Higher Self in life.
Is reality creation as simple as putting our order into the Universe?
It depends if your order is pizza with peperoni or pizza with the lot...........
It depends totally on each person's individual journey; what each of us is here to learn, experience, be, do, create, express and it will be unique to each individual. In other words it does not mean that every person who has watched the Secret and who has written their personal cheque to the Universe for $10 million will get it. Firstly - most people deep down will not believe it. Secondly most people deep down are quite happy with what they have and they do not have the inner desire or passion to take the necessary action to create the $10 million, and lastly it is not the Soul's journey of every person to do so. Besides what is a cheque with a number on it anyway? Just that, a piece of paper. What does that 'money' truly represent? The Universe does not recognise 'numbers'.
There is a big difference too between 'believing' and 'knowing'. The ego mind, in its dualised state 'believes' in something, but it is the Soul that 'knows'. The Soul knows via the Heart. The ego 'thinks' via the 'head'. The ego can delude itself so easily into anything, however the more we listen to our inner voice and intuition the more we feel our own Truth.
After speaking on several radio shows in the US recently the topic of the Secret came up ofcourse. And what I suggested needed to be discussed in more detail was the fact that people are unaware about the complexities of metaphysics and that perhaps there were going to be a whole lot of people focused on what they can 'get' from the 'magical universe' rather than what they are really here to give, do, create, express and share with the world.
A Rabbi was interviewed about the Secret recently in the US and his comments were 'there were more orders for SVU's than for world peace......' Of course in a material driven society why not put your order in for all the material things that money can buy? We all have Free will - the ability to choose and make our own decisions and have desire. But what are we really here to do?
The basic teachings of the 'Secret' will provide many benefits to many people who will use it with gratitude. It will help people move from being 'victims' to becoming responsible for their thoughts, words and deeds. It will also create dialogue, debate and encourage more people to learn more about metaphysics and spiritual growth than just what they can get from the universe.
In life there will be times when things happen quickly and easily. We put our request to the universe and we get what we ask for. When life happens like this we realise that the Law of Attraction is not only real but it is working for us. Then there are times when we keep on asking the universe, God/Goddess or the Angels or who-ever is out there listening to our requests and they seem not to be met. No one is listening. It is easy for the ego to fall into pleading or demanding when it does not get what it asks for. A bit like a child who has asked for another chocolate bar and is being told 'no' by his/her mother.
Let me simplify it and illustrate it in the following ways. If we view life through the eyes of our ego we view this concept of the Law of Attraction in the following ways: (Notice that the 'ego' is an 'it'. It is not our True Self.)
1. The ego puts its order into the universe
2. The ego gets impatient when its order is not met/given, or it takes too long to 'arrive'
3. The ego can fall into demanding what it thinks or feels it needs 'right now'.
4. The ego can feel jealousy, resentment, envy, pride and anger when it does not 'get what it wants'
5. The ego believes that it can order anything and get it, because the 'Secret' says so. So when this does not happen the ego gets angry.
6. The ego can fall into manipulation and control mode. This is when a person starts trying to use their own mental energy to control things or people in thier lives. They try to use thier mental focus and 'will' in a way to manipulate others. For example, a friend of mine uses the Law of Attraction in her life very well. However, she recently fell into the mode of trying to 'control' a certain person in her life - by 'winning him back' or using her power to 'attract him back'. She had made up her mind that this particular man was 'her man' and was going to 'be her man'. So without realising it, she had actually fallen into control mode. This is not her Higher Self, this is her own ego thinking that it can control others. Many people do not understand the difference between their own 'ego's wants' and their Higher Self's will.
I feel that this is a big trap that the ego can fall into. The intellect/ego tries to outsmart the Laws of the Universe and control its world, and or others. And I suppose this is why there is a lot of interest in 'magyck (magic)' and Hermetics (the study of Magyck) at the moment. When 'magic' and mental thought form control and 'power' is used by the ego is it not actually real power. The ego is simply trying to use any 'metaphysical' tool or process to manipulate its reality and get what it wants, or hurt, harm or change people to suit itself. So in this regard, the teachings of Hermetics and Wicca etc are being made available to the masses. This poses are real potential problem - do you throw 'pearls at swine?'. In other words what was only available to those who were responsible and evolved is now available to the average 'ego-centric' person walking around out there. Wicca and Hermetics traditionally were only known by those evolved Beings who worked closely with the nature realms, or other Worlds either for the Light, and ofcourse there have been those who used it for the 'Dark'. The question we must ask ourselves if we are drawn to 'magic' is - 'What do we want to learn from it, and if we apply it - what do we want to achieve from it?'
If we fall into the trap of trying to use metaphysical tools to speed up the manifestation of what we want or change our reality then we fail to realise that in the process we are ignoring the Will of our own Higher Self. Our Higher Self is our true guide in life. It is our Higher Self that over-sees our journey and knows the 'bigger picture' that is playing out for us. The thing that we must learn to do is to surrender, surrender to the wisdom of our own Higher Self and learn to tune into our own spiritual intuition for guidance. When we do this we do not have to try and 'control' our reality. Any person who has high consciousness realises that he/she cannot control his/her reality. It is 'not up to me', it is up to 'Higher Self'. This does not mean we let go of our dreams and desires, it simply means we learn to work in alliance with our Higher Self and the more we do this, the more 'ease' we have in life, the more we fall into the natural 'flow'. If we fall into to manipulation and control mode we simply slow down our own evolution.
So, from the perspective of our Higher Self we understand the Law of Attraction in the following ways:
This is TRUE SPIRITUAL POWER:
1. Whatever I have attracted into my life simply is. There may be something for me to learn from, there may not be. But I realise that I learn from nearly everything and everyone in my life. Every person is a 'teacher' to me about my self, my responses and attitude in life. I realise that I am responsible for attracting everything into my life at some level. I do not always have to 'understand it' but I simply trust it. I do not fear or resist it. I realise there is always a 'bigger game' that I cannot always see.
2. I know in my heart that I am always looked after. My Higher Self has my best interests at heart, even if I cannot see that right now. Even if I feel or experience pain I realise that it simply means I am growing in consciousness and learning along the way. I understand that I live in a world of duality and therefore there will always be periods of 'order' and 'chaos' (pain and pleasure). I realise that I cannot control my world. I also trust that whatever chaos or pain I experience I can navigate out of it back to love.
3. I know in my heart what I am here to do, create, give, express and share with the world. I honour my own inner voice and intuition. My Higher Self knows what I am here to do, be and create and therefore I do not have to tell my Higher Self what I want all the time. I state my intention and request to my Higher Self once and do not need to say it over and over again.
(For example, when I was training for the '92' Olympic Games I did not have to tell my Higher Self that 'I want to win the Olympic selection trials' or 'I will win the Olympic Selection Trials' every day. It was my intention, my dream, my 'goal' and I had made the decision. I then did not have to think about it every day. I had an innate knowingness in my heart that I was going to win. This was based on my own inner knowingness and also because at the time I was number 1 in Australia. I had done all the necessary training and fitness work to achieve it. My only focus was on training 100 % every day. Putting in the necessary action each day to achieve this. My focus each day was not on 'winning'. Many people who simplify the 'Secret' feel that they have to 'focus' on what they want to create 24/7. This is not true. We simply 'let go'. We need to detach.)
4. My Higher Self is not stupid, and I realise that I do not have to use my own mental energy to try and create something into my life. I am not the creator. God/Goddess/The Universe - the One Spirit is the creator. I am here to experience and honour my Soul's purpose and Higher Self's will. And as part of the One Spirit I simply learn to surrender to the One Spirit and 'allow' my life to unfold rather than 'control' or resist or speed up my life. I realise there is no 'destination to get to'. I am already happy because I choose to be, and because I am. I have healed any perception that was not in balance and making me feel 'unhappy'.
5. My focus is simply on taking the necessary action that I am inspired or guided to take each day. I have a linear time line and deadlines of what I want to create and achieve and I am working towards achieving those things each day. When I am not actually taking action I am not thinking about everything I 'have to do'. I am able to let go and enjoy the now-moment rather than being focussed on the future. I also realise that if things do not happen according to my own linear plan then there is always a 'bigger reason' for this and it does not matter. All I can do is do what I am drawn to doing each day. If things happen slower or faster than what my linear plan states then that is ok. It really is not up to me. I am open to 'time' and to 'divine timing' and trust my Higher Self and God/Goddess/The Universe to support me in fulfilling my Soul's purpose. I also understand that time is an illusion of the five senses. I understand that all 'future potentials', present and 'past' co-exist. All time is simultaneous. In understanding this I realise that the 'path' I will walk is up to my Higher Self, not up to me. All I can do is connect with what brings me joy each day and create a life where I honour my Soul's purpose.
The more we can trust our own spiritual intuition the more we can learn to surrender. We either choose to live life through the eyes of our ego self, or we live life through the eyes of our Higher Self. These are two totally different ways of living life.
The ego's way is the 3D way - and is largely controlled by everything in the external (physical) world.
The Higher Self's way is not controlled by the physical external world, people or events. When we honour our inner voice we are able to detach from everything that is happening in the physical world and live more from a place of observation. From this place of observation we recognise when we are falling into lower level emotions of fear, resentment or jealousy etc and are able to move more quickly back to gratitude and love. We do not get attached to 'good' or 'bad' because we can see beyond 'good and bad'. We realise that anything 'bad' will always have a 'good' or 'benefit' and every 'good' will also have a potential 'downside or bad'. So we do not get attached to the see-saw roller coaster of pain and pleasure, good and bad.
Living from the perspective of our Higher Self is easier said than done. The only way to do it consistently is to transform all the emotional 'personas' of the ego/mind which keep us enslaved in the emotional roller coaster ride. We have to free our self from our own Mind.
We are NOT our MIND!
- but we do have a mind. The mind is a function of consciousness. The ego is really the lower mind, and then we have a Higher Aspect of Mind which is a where we can see things in our life from deeper wisdom, beyond right and wrong and a place of observation. But at our highest level of Beingness we are not our mind and therefore when we are able to access this place we can genuinely be in a state of 'non-thinking'. The mind is active, it is always thinking, comparing, analysing, judging, and as a result we are experiencing emotions that are responses to our own perceptions, thinking and judgments.
When we transcend our own mind we find ourself in a divine state of pure Being where we are in pure observation and what we feel is the following:
- divine unconditional love for all people, things and events (not just those people who are 'good' but for all people)
- total detachment (detachment from all people and material things)
- total Oneness
- inner peacefulness and calm
- stillness
- pure bilssed out state
- total knowingness, trust and connection with God/Goddess/All there Is
- no attachment to past or future, only Now - eternal life, no beginning, no end
- totally rested state
Is this really possible? Absolutely, and this is our natural state of Being and the Highest state of Being we can access whilst in physical form. But to access this state regularly requires doing the deeper healing of our own consciousness and takes a life time for many people. However, if we heal the major 'persona's' of the ego/personality self we can begin to access this state. After all we are a human - Being, not a Humandoing. Many of us have simply forgotten that.
When we are in this place it is very difficult to 'vibrate down' and think in linear terms or use our brain function in a linear way. I have simply included the description of this state so that you realise it is possible to go beyond pain and fear in life.
In fact the more we connect with our true Spiritual - eternal Authentic Self the more detached we are from the material world. The more we crave simplicity in life. We no longer need material things to make us happy. Because we are already happy and content within our Self. At this level we realise that 'everything is within us'. We are WHOLE. The ego does not feel whole - it feels separate from Oneness and God. God is divine Love. Therefore it seeks what it does not have outside of itself. Many people go on a journey of seeking answers outside of themselves only to find out it was always within, not outside. That is the illusion we came to play.
