Our Soul does not value money & time

Our eternal Soul Self, as part of the One Spirit (that is omnipresent) does not value money or time, therefore it has trouble charging money for its time. In a material world where money=time our eternal Spiritual Self has trouble relating to this concept. The soul understansd that money really is energy, but even so, it has no attachment whatsoever to it because the Soul has no attachment to material things. And money represents material things, or services that are still related to the physical world.

That is why most people fundamentally have some sort of chaos with money, whether it is not enough of it, too much debt or deep grief when they have too much money and do not know what to do with it.

We have two relationships with money:

Firstly our ego self has a relationship with money and secondly our eternal Soul aspect (our eternal aspect of Self and the One Spirit) has a relationship with money which is very different to that of our ego.

The ego equates its self worth with money whereas our Soul Self does not equate its inner worth with money. The Soul sees money only as a piece of paper.

The Soul observes how the ego can so easily become a slave to money and how every human on Earth is a slave to Time and Money because of an economic system of consumerism, profits and continuous growth. Before money people did not live by the clock and were not slaves to time. Money and Time go hand in hand. Linear time is what the 5 senses experiences. We have 24 hours in a day and we have created a society based on time. Therefore we have a society based on money, and time is then given a value.

What we charge for our time will depend on what experience we have, what profession we are trained in but ultimately what our internal self worth is. Our ego in seeking an identity in the physical world has to come up with a value or dollar amount for charging for its time. It then charges its time out to an employer or works for itself deciding on a rate it will charge for its time.

If we have low self worth then we will have trouble ever earning more money or creating real financial wealth. Our identity in the material world can so easily get caught up or attached to our own bank account. Is it possible to feel like a millionaire when you have $10 in the bank and no job? The only way the ego can feel like ‘a millionaire’ or ‘abundant’ is if it is able to connect with its own eternal Self Worth which is the Soul. Otherwise we will be attached to our bank account.

The ego can spend money so quickly when it does not value money. This is a different kind of relationship with money – I call it the negative ego. When we have money often we also have, deep down in our own unconsciousness, one or several wounds of unworthiness. If we do not really feel worthy of receiving money therefore the ego self will get rid of money as soon as it can and spend it on anything. It will not be able to keep any of it to invest in or create more wealth because it will unconsciously get rid of it as quick as possible, because it does not believe it is worthy of keeping it or receiving it.

The negative ego basically says “I am not worthy of keeping money because somewhere I have been a bad person, wronged someone, am feeling guilty about harming self or others and therefore I cannot give to myself. Therefore I must get rid of this money as soon as possible.” Now of course most of us are completely unaware that we have an unconscious aspect that is creating certain behaviour in us that leads exactly to this situation.

A perfect example of this is the average lottery winner who is worse off financially, and often bankrupt, within 5 years of winning millions, because the average lottery winner does not have an internal wealth threshold to the same value as their lottery win. The internal wealth threshold is controlled by all the unconscious wounds in their own psyche and depends on their own inner wealth threshold. All their wounded aspects of their ego, from this life and past lives sabotage their efforts to create real wealth. And if their internal wealth threshold (of their ego) is $30,000 per year and they just won $10 million, their ego throws the money away as soon as it can because there is no energetic ‘match’. Their internal wealth threshold is no where near the $10 million dollars. That is why in many ways giving money to people of low or wounded consciousness is a waste of time because they will not spend it wisely. For example, if a beggar on the street asks you for money, do you give him/her money? I experienced this recently in Melbourne where a guy in his late teens asked me for money. I asked him what he needed the money for. He said he was hungry. So I said, ok, what do you want to eat? Will you eat a salad roll? He looked at me confused. He did not really want a healthy meal, he wanted money. And who knows what he wanted money for? Perhaps alcohol or drugs. So I bought him some lunch and sent him on his way. He looked annoyed. But at the end of the day how many people are good money managers? When the entire population has grown up with easy credit it is no wonder the average person is drowning in debt. And that is mostly debt for liabilities, not for assets such as real estate.

The Eternal Soul does not attach its self-worth to money. Our Soul does not know how to value time or money because Time is eternal, there is no beginning and no end, there is only the eternal ‘now’ moment. Money is a material object in the form of a coin, a paper note with ink on it or even a piece of gold. So therefore from our eternal Spiritual aspect of Self – our Soul, we do not place a value on money or time. Our inner wealth comes from feeling our own Truth. When we connect with our Soul Self we feel divine unconditional love and abundance. This kind of abundance is an abundance of Love and Oneness. All that has ever been and ever will be is within us. We are a part of the Whole and the Whole is a part of us. There is no sense of separation and there is no sense of attachment to any thing, person or event. There is no sense of ‘past and future’ there is only the wonderful moment of being fully present with Self – connected to God right now.

This is pure bliss. In fact when we feel this we wonder why on earth did we ever decide to incarnate on Earth into a system that relies on money. However, we have to take responsibility for self and therefore we need to generate an income to live and support ourself. The only other option is to live in an Ashram or community where you can contribute your efforts for a roof over your head and food on your table. But if we choose to live a typical life in the Western world we have to find some way of generating an income. For the majority of people on earth this means some laborious job that is not only mind-numbing but also soul destroying. So many of us who incarnate have trouble being Physical and adapting to a system of Time=Money. From the eternal Soul's perspective many of us would be more than happy to be in service, or offer our services for free, if we could afford to. But this is not always wise as the majority of people who are given products or services for free do not value or appreciate them. An energy exchange (money) needs to be paid for a product or service for a person to value it. Ofcourse there are some people with nothing who would appreciate free services, but the ego is not always appreciative. The ego defines value with money. For balance to occur there needs to be an energy exchange from the giver to the receiver. This can happen if a person is able to be genuinely grateful for receiving a 'free service' or product. Authentic gratitude is a powerful divine energy that is in balance. However, for the majority of people money is the only way for the person to value what they receive. They need to 'give out' (pay for goods and services an agreed value) in order to value them.

So in the physical world an equal energy exchange is needed. However, from a Soul perspective we often would be more than happy giving our services away for free.

And this is two fold: the ego self has wounds about self worthiness and the Soul has no desire for money. So when we realise these two fundamental truths about the majority of people and the Soul Self it is no wonder that the majority of people in the world live in debt or have not mastered the art of financial abundance.

To be financially abundant we have to first truly desire it, and secondly truly believe that we are capable of achieving and creating that based on what we came to do, create, express or share with the world. Financial abundance as a goal in itself is not the priority of many spiritual seekers or those who are spiritually evolved on the planet right now. Financial abundance is usually the bi-product of reaching our own full potential. But then of course many of us can reach our full potential in various ways and professions and financial abundance is not necessarily a bi-product.

For example, I competed around the world in windsurfing for over 10 years. I did this because I loved it. I made just enough money and sponsorship to fund my windsurfing career and make ends meet. I never did it for the money and I did not make millions from it. Some people said to me – why do it if you do not make money from it? This statement I simply cannot relate to. I chose to follow my heart and do something I love doing. Windsurfing to me provided a life of spiritual abundance and I was always financially taken care of. The amount of joy I received from simply being on the water with the wind and waves and traveling the world with such a wonderful bunch of fellow competitors was worth millions of dollars – in other words it was worth more to me that what any amount of money could buy.

There has only been one time in my life where I followed my rational logical mind when I decided to take on a job only for the pay check. In this particular

case I worked in corporate sales and got paid a nice six figure salary. For the first 6 months I enjoyed it. It was interesting and I was learning but most of all I enjoyed the fact that I had consistent income and I did not have to spend my money on windsurfing (because I had retired) I could spend it on my own lifestyle, or paying of windsurfing expenses. I lasted less than a year in this role, primarily because I did not believe in what I was doing. I did not want to sell even if it meant making lots of money. The people who I worked with were used to following their ‘head’ in life, not their heart. And that is the choice that many of us make. Do we take on a job to pay the bills and ensure a good income, or do we do it because we love it? That is the biggest challenge for all of us – how can we find enough balance in life, between earning an income and finding joy in life. It is not an easy balancing act, but at some point many of us feel the pull in our heart from our Soul and it is so strong that we can no longer ignore it. We simply have to do what our Soul wants us to do, even if it means leaving a high paid job, leaving the city to live in the country, locking ourself away at home and writing a book or going off to Africa to work with homeless people.

Life is a balancing act

If the Soul does not place a value on money then how do you then earn money and pay your bills in this life?

Whilst our physical self needs to be fed, watered, clothed and sheltered our Soul Self has no desire to ‘charge money for its time’ especially if we are doing what we love doing and sharing what we came to share. For example there are many wonderful musicians and artists who create wonderful works of art. They then give their art away and do not charge for it or they give their art away for a lot less money than it took for them to create the piece of art. They are not attached to charging money for their work of art and they do not equate the true beauty of their art into a dollar amount. That is why many artists who do what they love live lives of poverty. I mean financial poverty because they did not come here to master money they came here to do what they love doing – to share their gift with the world. It is usually only after they die that other people see the beauty in their work and pay millions of dollars for art work.

Mozart died a poor man. He had no financial money making or saving skills, his skill was not about money, even though he was the first musician of his kind to charge the State opera and Court a fee for his music. He came to share his heart with the world and his heart was his music. For many great artists, spiritual teachers and leaders throughout history making money has never been a goal or objective. They came to share what they came to share with the world. Their only intention was to follow their heart. When we are guided by our heart we are guided by our eternal Soul/Spirit. When we are guided by our head or rational mind we are guided by our ego self.

Our ego self will try and conform to society and those around us. Often our ego is not listening to our Soul self and that is when we have inner conflict. Then sometimes our Soul self does not want to listen to our rational self which is trying to make ends meet financially in this material world and then we have massive confusion and sadness. This is an interesting place to be. Soul says – I just want to be here to give, contribute and share with the world what I came to share, I do not want to have to charge money for what I do. Then our ego cries out and says but ‘hey…I need to pay the mortgage, put food on the table and take care of myself and or my kids….I need money to do that….’ So we can have an internal battle about how and what to charge for our service to the world.

Some people have incarnated at this time on Earth to learn the art of mastering financial principles and generating financial wealth, whilst others did not come to do that.

Therefore there are many spiritual teachers who do not charge for their time or services because they are happy to simply Be who they came to be and do not place a value on money or financial wealth.

So does spiritual wealth automatically mean financial wealth?

Many in the Self Help industry or Gurus of the Law of Attraction equate spiritual wealth with monetary wealth. However, monetary wealth has never been an authentic goal or intention of the spiritual seeker or the evolved Soul. The Soul is divine love by its very nature it does not seek anything outside of itself because ‘All is within’. The Universal Law of Abundance is about the fact that at our highest level of Being – at Soul level we are Divine Love, there is an abundance of Divine Love within us all. This is what this Universal Law of Abundance is all about. It was never meant to be applied to the physical material realm. It does not mean that there is an abundance of material wealth and money available to every one on Earth. We still live in a physical world with a set amount of resources and set money supply. It does not mean that every person who puts in their ‘order to the universe’ for a $10million cheque will receive that amount of money. The $10 million will come from existing resources, not out of ‘thin air’. (See my article on The Law of Abundance in detail).

Therefore when we connect with our true Self – our Soul, there is little desire for material things outside the basics of a home, clothing, transport and food and the necessary material things we need to fulfill our Soul’s mission.  (Some of us may need more resources than others to fulfill our mission.)

And of course in our current society we have to find a way to fund our own retirement when we get too old to work as there is no safety or welfare which will be able to support the ageing population; so we do need to find a way to financially fund our retirement. The other option that evolved Souls have is that when they are old and too tired and decrepit to stay they simply leave. They consciously die and ascend, leave the third dimension, physical realm. This is what we were once able to do before man fell in consciousness to where he is today, in a time thousands of years ago when we were more evolved living in human form. So to consciously die is a wonderful thing to be able to achieve as it means we do not have to sit back in some nursing home waiting to die. We can go when we are ready to go without the hassle of trying to commit suicide. Many Indigenous elders know how to do this and this is a totally accepted way to die in many cultures, only man in the West, so called ‘modern’ society has forgotten how to die consciously. The right to die should be respected as much as the right to live. There are some crazy laws trying to stop euthanasia. It is a divine right to choose when you want to leave this world. The choice should be up to each of us, not our Governments or some independent group who impose their ‘morals’ and beliefs on others and society.

If we understand that we are eternal Spiritual Beings having a human physical experience then the notion of consciously dying, or leaving when you have finished your mission (or Soul’s purpose) then it is no big deal. If you do not believe in life after death then perhaps you are desperately trying to live the longest life you can possibly live and that is your choice. The fact that Western society then imposes that view onto every one is ludicrous. I am sure there would be many elderly people happy to go if it did not mean physical pain. They would put their hand up tomorrow if they knew they could die peacefully and return Home to the Higher realms of existence of divine love.

So getting back to money? How does it affect our lives? What emotions do we feel when we think of money?

In order to master money we need to heal our emotions around money. All of emotions are related to our attachments to money and our fear around not having enough of it, or not being worthy of it, or not being able to keep it. There are many great money masters out there, but will mastering money alone make us happy?

It will certainly free us up from the emotional roller coaster ride which in turn affects our bank account, but ultimately the more we can connect with deeper meaning in our lives the happier we are. We find meaning when we connect with our true Soul’s purpose.

Are you listening to the whispers from your Soul?

When we choose to honour our Soul’s pull and walk the path we came to walk God/Goddess or the Universe that many people call it will always look after us. We always get what we need. We are always taken care of, and to do what we love doing is an honouring of Self. Happiness and joy stem from a life where we choose to Be who we truly are at Soul level, instead of getting caught up in what society is telling us to do or who our ego thinks it should be.

There is no desire for the Soul to ‘arrive at some destination’ as we are already there, we are already ‘it’, All is within.
